Westward Train came to me from listening to Django Reinhardt and thinking about old style swing rhythms. The Tin Man's Wish came out of an experimentation with combining open tunings and partial capos. The result turned into a rather fun piece of music which hopefully will, at some point, inspire someone to dance.
Tradewinds, Morning Dew and Alone in the Wilderness are all Banjo experiments. Basics is a generic phrase I use for any piece which is improv on solo base. This is one such piece.
Loco Motion was created on a Sunday afternoon in May of 2002, and performed that very night. The entire piece is about motion, movement and pure fun. I would have probably called it "Dizzy Fingers" except that Chet Atkins beat me to it.
Fearless started to find its way to me in the Summer of 2001, shortly after the release of "Rough Cuts." It mixes a variety of patterns and styles, shifting between jazz, blues, middle-eastern and other stuff I can't even define.
The Penguin Dance and Spirit Dance were first written for multiple instruments, but later became solo pieces.
